Turbocharger is an integral umpart of the ship's marine engine as it reuses the exhaust gases in order to increase the overall efficiency of the engine. It consists of two parts – blower and turbine sides, which need equal attention while carrying out routine maintenance procedures.

Brief introduction of Marine turbocharger:
When the diesel-exhaust turbocharger combination is in operation, the marine turbocharger/exhaust gas turbocharger is prone to failures such as turbine casing corrosion, bearing damage, blade damage, gas seal damage, and supercharger vibration. The daily good maintenance management can reduce these failures.

Lubricating oil pumps should be checked every 16,000 running hours. Overhauling the oil pumps requires special equipment. During this process casings, covers, suction pipes and pump nut are completely dismantled, cleaned and checked for mechanical damage and cracks . All measurements of the shaft, the pinion and the bores of the casing need to be checked if they are within tolerance.
The oil pump is tested at several speed ranges for vibration and to check if the oil pump is delivering the required pressure at the correct speed after reassembly.
